JD

JD had a check-up last week. At 2 and a half months he weighed 10lbs 13oz (15th percentile) and is 24 inches long (72nd percentile). So he has grown 4 and a half inches and has gained 3 and a half pounds since birth. He is a super smiley guy.

Lyrics

The following are the lyrics to a song I don't really like the music to but I love the words. Somehow (through all our money troubles and stress) God has worked on me to truly feel blessed, loved and rich. We're definitely not rich in the bay area sense of the word but we have a nice house to live in, (despite the stress of the mortgage) beautiful children, friends, family, decent jobs, plenty of food (sometimes too much food).

--Here in the silence I say a prayer
Though I've never seen you somehow I know you're there
You're in the faces of the people that I meet
You're as silent as the Earth beneath my feet
So if I should complain that all I have is not enough
Forgive me, I've been given so much
And I am blessed, every time I look into my baby's eyes
I think of all the friends who've touched my life
I realize in a world where some have more and some have less
I have love and I am blessed
So many changes this world can put you through
Sometimes it's hard to find a way if a heart can get confused
But then I hold you and it all falls into place
You've given me what time cannot erase
So when I'm feeling down or feel sorry for myself
I look around and it's easy to tell
That I am blessed, every time I look into my baby's eyes
I think of all the friends who touched my life
I realize in a world where some have more and some have less
I have love and I am blessed
Every time I look into my baby's eyes
I realize I think of all the friends who touched my life
And I am blessed (I am blessed)
Every time I look into my baby's eyes (I look into your eyes)
I think of all the friends who have touched my life
I realize (I realize) you've given me such peace and happiness
In this world where some have more and some have less
I am loved
And I am blessed

New Blog Address

I decided to change the address of our blog. I didn't realize I could do that. Otherwise I would have just changed the name of the last one instead of making a new one. John thought it would be safer to have one without our last name so I looked into it and figured it out.

Big Bully!

Katie's cousin Ember came for a visit. We were looking so forward to having these two together. Katie is always requesting to look at Ember's blog and Ember's pictures. Who knew that Katie could be a bully. Just about every chance she got she'd push Ember. So we got to practice learning about "time out." After being so spoiled with how sweet and good Katie usually is this was quite a shocker.
Ember finally sweet-talked Katie into sharing some of her cookies and was able to enjoy a short break from being pushed around.

Here is Ember's grandma and Katie & JD's great auntie Janice.

It is HOT out!

Katie and I played outside in the water yesterday. Unfortunately I stepped on a bee. Better me than her.

School's out for the Summer...

Katie got to spend a few hours with me at school on one of my last days. Here is our little prodigy already getting lessons from mom.

And below, this is the same look I often see in my students.

Here I am with Mrs. Bakker, my kindergarten teacher, and
Mr. Bakker who had been my principal in one way or another
for 21 years. He is finally retiring and we
were having a lunch in his honor.

New pictures of JD. These were taken June 9 & 10.

He is now a little over 2 months old. How time flies! He is a great little guy and he gives us so many precious smiles. He is really quite laid back. Of course he does have his moments but we are truly blessed.

My roommate from college came over a couple weeks after JD was born. It is so great to have her in the area. We don't get together too often but it is really nice when we do. Thanks again Diane for coming and for picking up our necessities. I owe you.

For those of you who don't know I had JD without an ounce of pain medication and WOW! I don't know why I let the doctors and nurses talk me in to that. Anyway below you see how I pushed the wrong way and did a real number to my eyes.

But he was well worth all that horrible horrible pain. : )

This little girl is the light of our lives. She has so much personality and she just fills her mom and dad with so much pride. She is a true delight.

Happy Hollow

We went to Happy Hollow on Memorial day. It was our first big outing with JD and he slept the whole time. So he is not in any of the pictures.

Katie adores her cousins and gets so excited when she gets to spend time with them.

June 1, 2008

JD is becoming more and more responsive. He is a sweet little guy and his smiles are such a treat.
Katie is a great big sister and she is so proud when she gets to help. She has hardly shown any signs of jealousy. She is such a little love.
